STATE AND CHAPTER OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTIONS


These are the job descriptions and lists of duties for all current officers in Leadership of The Sons of Thunder MM at the State & Local Chapter levels.  For more complete information, please see the Official By-Laws.  For a list of the National Club officers, see the Executive Board. 


1. State President:  Shall be responsible for presiding over the executive committee officers meetings at his home chapter or any chapter he chooses to attend, vision casting for his state in conjunction with the national vision, and leading by example. The President shall vote only when one vote is required to break a tie.  The President or delegated VP shall be the second signer on all accounts for his home Chapter. 
Each state shall have an Executive VP appointed by the State President to fulfill his role in case of absence.  The Executive VP shall be chosen from among the VP's of the various chapters in the state.  The State President shall be accountable to the executive committee of national organization as a whole, and to the National President, Gerald Cantrell, individually for his actions and decisions.

2. Vice-President:  Each local chapter shall have a Vice-President as the leader of the local chapter.  The Vice-Presidents of the State Chapters will hold the State President personally accountable, and will coordinate and hold accountable the standing committee chairpersons of his own Chapter. The Vice-President is an ex-officio member of each standing committee, and will be the liaison between the standing committee chairs and the executive committee.  The Vice-President shall be accountable to the executive committee as a whole, and to the President individually for his actions and decisions.
 
3. Treasurer:  Shall be responsible for the finances of the group, receiving and dispersing all moneys and rendering account of all receipts and expenditures.  The Treasurer shall be the first authorized signer on all group financial accounts.  The Treasurer shall be accountable to the executive committee as a whole, and to the State President or Chapter VP individually for his actions and decisions.
 
4. Secretary:  Shall be responsible for taking and publishing the minutes of every meeting, all official correspondence, and taking of attendance at all functions and the development, editing, and publishing of the newsletter.  The Secretary will be responsible for the maintenance of the membership lists, and the filing of all membership applications.  The Secretary shall be accountable to the executive committee as a whole, and to the State President or Chapter VP individually for his actions and decisions.
 
5. Chaplain:  Shall provide spiritual influence to both the executive committee and the general assembly.  The Chaplain shall visit sick/injured group members whenever possible with other members, and will be available to be called on to pray.  The Chaplain will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of a group prayer chain.  The Chaplain shall be accountable to the executive committee as a whole, and to the State President or Chapter VP individually for his actions and decisions.
 
6. Sergeant at Arms:  Shall be responsible for developing or delegating a ride committee to plan and schedule Club and Ministry rides for The Sons of Thunder.  The Sergeant at Arms shall appoint his Road Captains to lead and plan the specifics of each ride. The Sergeant at Arms shall be accountable to the executive committee as a whole, and to the State President or Chapter VP individually for his actions and decisions.


7.  Road Captain:  Shall be responsible for all club runs. He shall research, plan, and organize all runs. During actual time on the road or at intermediate stops during a run, he shall act as the ranking club officer, deferring only to the State President or Chapter Vice-President, if either of them are present, and only then for matters involving persons outside the club. He shall supply the Secretary with any information required to notify outside agencies of impending club runs in a timely manner.  

The executive duties of the road captain are as follows:
 
1. To plan the travel routes and organize the basic itinerary of the club prior to going on a 'run' (tour).
 
2. To lead the club in formation while riding on tour.
 
3. To enforce club rules and procedures for group riding.
 
4. Designate a maintenance supervisor for all club vehicles.


EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The executive committee consists of those members who were appointed as officers of each local chapter. The Officers of the Executive Committee hold scheduled meetings every month at an appointed time each month.
Emergency meetings can be called if a situation arises that demands immediate attention.

The executive committee is responsible for:
 
1. The monitoring of conflicts within the local chapter.
 
2. The application of disciplinary procedures.
 
3. The evaluation of rounders, prospects and their progress.

 4. To plan the annual rides for their respective chapters and to coordinate rides with other chapters as the opportunity arises.

 5. The presentation of assessments of the overall club growth and progress to the Membership  (Court).  


COURT

Thunder Alley “Court” will consist of all patch holders that are eligible to vote.

Thunder Alley Meetings will be open forums for Guests, Rounders and Prospects.
